2015 KCLA CPD - Appointments to the Bench, Tribunal or Board

Thank you to everyone who came out to the 2015 KCLA CPD at Gowlings LLP - it was an overwhelming success! The panel and roundtable discussions left our members feeling inspired and empowered to take on greater leadership roles in the legal profession and the broader community.

The second part of the CPD featured a presentation by Ian Hu of LawPRO on key practice management and professional responsibility topics, such as trends in cybercrime and how to avoid common claims.
The CPD event contained 3 professionalism hours and all attendees were eligible for a $50 discount on LawPRO fees!

The KCLA was proud to sponsor a table at the KCSF gala on May 2, 2015.
The KCSF is a charitable organization established in 1978 and since that time, has awarded nearly 700 scholarships. In addition to scholarships, the KCSF offers programs for young people aimed at education and professional development. Its annual Scholarship Night Gala not only applauds scholars’ excellence, celebrates the vibrant Korean community, but is an important source of fundraising to implement the KCSF programs. The event will be attended by approximately 300 people from the Korean‐Canadian communities in Ontario. Many of the attendees are leaders of various community organizations, businesses and professionals supporting the KCSF.
The keynote speaker for the evening was acclaimed architect, Donald Chong, principal of Williamson Chong. The master of ceremony was Hannah Sung from Globe and Mail.
Social Mixer with the IAKL

The KCLA was proud to host the regional directors of the International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL) in Toronto with a welcome social mixer at the Spoke Club on April 2015.

2015 Launch Event

The KCLA hosted its launch event for 2015 at the Akco Lounge on April 1, 2015. The members of the 2015 Executive Committee introduced themselves and set out their vision for the upcoming year. Also present were representatives from our partner organizations, including the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.
